Eccentric Pendulum is a metal band formed in November 2008, owing to the amalgamation of musical ideas exchanged by its founding members Arun (ex Extinct Reflections), Vibhas (ex Spitfire), Ashish (ex Inner Sanctum, Spit) and Nikhil (ex Asylum).
Having played with their previous bands for quite a while, the quartet aimed at composing songs which were inspired by various forms of music with no particular bias towards any genre/sub genre. While maintaining progressive metal as their prime focus, the band composes songs exploiting polyrhythms and tempo changes resulting in an unconventional musical concoction.
The band gained respect and popularity in the local scene for their ability to engage the audiences and appeal to their intellectual side through the band’s live performances. In March 2009, the band released their debut EP titled “The Sculptor of Negative Emotions“.In August 2009, the band welcomed Faheem as their lead guitarist to help extend its musical boundaries into unmapped metal territories. Hence adding another dimension to the band’s sound.
The highlight of 2009 came in December when the band was chosen to play at the Deccan Rock Festival alongside international metal heavyweights such as “Textures” and “Amon Amarth” with a host of handpicked Indian metal bands.
And what with the founding guitarist hiting base in Germany, the band discovered their next talented guitarist Arjun Mulky in the mid of 2010.Towards the begining of 2011 the band became the first from India to win the Wacken Metal Battle which got them a spot to play live in Germany for the first time.By the end of 2011, Faheem decided to part ways with the band to explore other muscial cravings. The band then continued to tour Europe in 2012 for a span of 15 days, revisited the continent to continue spreading their music.
Having already played at the Wacken Metal Battle, the band saw many other opportunities open up, including the SWR Metal Fest at Barroselas, Portugal and various other pub gigs spanning from Vigo to Lisboa to Paris.
However the journey for the band has only just begun, they are looking forward to playing more shows to enlighten people about their music.
Apart from the urge of playing live, the band is, as always, exploring new sounds to appeal to their auditory senses and is in no mood to not leave any stone un-turned to stick true to their name of burden, Eccentric Pendulum.
